Mental Health/Psychiatric Physician Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the scientific process and national standards of care as a framework for managing patient care.
  • Assesses health status, diagnoses patients, interprets labs and diagnostics, conducts psychiatric evaluations and assessments, and manages ongoing medication follow-up appointments.
  • Performs and gives psychotherapy for the treatment of conditions, develops and implements treatment plans, and prescribes and manages appropriate medications for mental health conditions.
  • Makes adjustments to treatment plans as necessary and monitors and evaluates patient progress.
  • Completes necessary documentation regarding patient health care in accordance with established policies and procedures and relevant State and Federal regulatory requirements.
  • Educates patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
  • Consults with a physician for areas outside the scope of practice.
  • Collaborates with the Center Leadership Team and AlignMed leadership team to improve quality measures related to psychiatric care.
  • Demonstrates continued professional competence through continued learning and adherence to coding and billing compliance program.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing program, licensed as a registered nurse, and certified as a Nurse Practitioner with a Master’s Degree in Nursing, specializing in Adult/Geriatrics or Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Graduate from a program accredited by the ARC-PA and pass the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) to use the PAC designation. PA state licensure required. NCCPA certification required.
  • Active certification as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
