Job Details
Northstar Behavioral Health is seeking a passionate and dedicated client advocate to join our energetic team in an opiate and stimulant specific program. We offer a comprehensive continuum of care including residential, outpatient, medical, and mental health services in our Co-Occurring and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) friendly programs. We strive to be both the provider and employer of choice in the Metro area.
Key Result Areas
- Fulfill the mental health component of the co-occurring licensure requirements, including completing the initial mental health screen (GAIN-SS) and diagnostic assessment (DA) within the required timeframe.
- Complete an individual treatment plan within 30 days of the diagnostic assessment or the second psychotherapy appointment.
- Maintain a minimum of 25 direct client contact hours per week (full-time) or at least 60% of available time as direct client contact if part-time.
- Document substance use and mental health services within 24 and 72 hours, respectively.
- Track clients in the residential site and attend weekly multidisciplinary clinical staffing meetings.
- Ensure the number of grievances/maltreatment reports does not exceed one per month.
- Pass quarterly peer review internal documentation review processes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to MN State Statutes, code of ethics, insurance requirements, and Northstar’s policy and procedures.
- Maintain resident/client records in accordance with Northstar’s policy requirements.
- Complete continuing education courses as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain professional license.
- Attend in-house training, all scheduled Northstar/Bridges staff meetings, and consultations.
- Hold a caseload of clients, providing all components of a psychotherapeutic episode of care from diagnostic assessment through termination.
- Carefully coordinate care with all providers on the client’s care team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
- Must be a Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of Minnesota (LP, LICSW, LMFT, LPCC).
- Eligible to be credentialed with insurers.
- Minimum requirement of a master’s degree.
- Demonstrate competent use of DSM-V and evidence-based approaches.
- CPR Certification or attain within 30 days of hire (in-house training available).
- Two years of freedom from chemical use problems.
- Pass drug screen.
- Pass a State of Minnesota Background Check.
- Possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and other computer skills.
Additional Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with Procentive.
- Training or certification in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, SFBT, DBT, EMDR, Brain Spotting, etc.
- Strong motivational interviewing skills.
- Ability to work independently, think critically, and cultivate a solution-focused mindset.
- Flexibility and willingness to embrace change.
- Effective communication and collaboration with other members of the care team.
