Mental Health Professional
Summary
The position requires the ability to think globally, solve problems, and make decisions, including critical thinking skills. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Applicants must be able to work within a multi-cultural environment and maintain confidentiality. They must also be able to establish appropriate boundaries with both staff and clients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Conduct individual mental health assessments and initial intake interviews.
- Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose accordingly.
- Determine residents' psychiatric diagnoses based on established criteria.
- Provide crisis-intervention services as needed according to agency policies, procedures, and service definitions.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on residents' strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
- Submit timely documentation according to agency policies, procedures, and service definitions.
- Act in a confidential capacity to the Executive Director regarding compliance with federal and state laws affecting detained juveniles.
Qualifications
- A Master of Social Work degree, or a Master of Art, Science, or Education degree in a mental health field.
- Licensed in the State of Mississippi to practice counseling as either a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.
- A valid drivers' license (in good standing) and proof of auto insurance.
- Criminal background check clearance.
