MENTAL HEALTH GRADUATE PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

Main Purpose of Job

This position will perform various counseling functions with students as a school-based substance use disorder counselor in the Allegany County Public School System (ACPS) and at the Allegany County Health Department Outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Program under close supervision from SUD program director. This position is responsible for evaluations, admissions, treatment planning, individual, and family/group counseling, crisis intervention, accurate recordkeeping, initiating referrals and consultation with agencies that are associated with our persons served.

About the Role

The position requires a Graduate Professional Counselor license by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. Employees certified as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) may practice graduate professional counseling for 2 years under the supervision of an approved supervisor. As required by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists, these employees must possess certification as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) by the end of this 2 year period.
