Salary: $95,000.00–$105,000.00 annually with benefits
Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Mental Health Director.

About the Role

Lead behavioral health strategy. Expand access. Build high-impact community services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and day-to-day oversight for mental health/behavioral health programs, including quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure services are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, evidence-based, and aligned with VOADV mission/values
  • Monitor outcomes and performance indicators; use data to strengthen effectiveness and impact
  • Develop/maintain policies, procedures, and service standards that meet regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Identify community needs and emerging behavioral health trends to guide expansion and innovation
  • Design and launch new mental health initiatives and service models
  • Support funding growth: collaborate on grants/contracts/partnerships; contribute to narratives, budgets, and reporting
  • Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical/program staff; build a collaborative, accountable culture
  • Facilitate team meetings, case consultations, and training initiatives; support retention and workforce development
  • Build partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, government agencies, social services, and community stakeholders
  • Represent VOADV in coalitions and community planning; advocate for mental health equity and access
  • Develop/manage program budgets; monitor expenditures; prepare reports for funders/leadership/board stakeholders
  • Participate in strategic planning and agency-wide leadership; drive DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) and belonging efforts

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Public Health, Human Services, or related field
  • Current New Jersey professional license in good standing (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist)
  • 5+ years progressive leadership experience in behavioral health, social services, or nonprofit program management
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing community-based programs end-to-end
  • Experience with grants/contracts, program budgets, and compliance
  • Strong leadership, organizational, project management, and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Camden County as needed
  • Preferred: bilingual Spanish/English; experience in NJ behavioral health systems; nonprofit fundraising/grant development/strategic partnerships
