Required Education / Experience

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work.
  • Current licensure as a Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, or Clinical Social Worker with five (5) years experience as a LPA, LPC or LCSW.
  • PREFERRED:
    • Master’s degree in Counseling or Psychology, or a related field.
    • Licensure or eligible for licensure as a Professional Counselor or Psychological Associate.
    • (5) Years of Experience as a Licensed Counselor

    Job Summary

    This position is responsible for providing mental health evaluation and therapeutic intervention to patients. Works under the supervision of a Psychologist, Mental Health Manager, and/or Program Director.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Contributes to the success of the UTMB Managed Care organization.
    • Interviews, evaluates and diagnoses patients identified as having mental health needs.
    • Provides individual and group psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
    • Develops, implements and reviews Individual Treatment Plans.
    • Aids in training and education of mental health, medical and other staff.
    • Aids in the implementation of Quality Improvement/Quality Management (QI/QM) programs and the monitoring of compliance with required policies, procedures and standards.
    • Provides routine consultation and communication with supervisor and/or attending provider regarding the status of assigned patients.
    • Completes clinically appropriate and timely documentation.
    • Liaises with patients, patient families, on-site departments and community agencies to coordinate current treatment and/or facilitate aftercare services.
    • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
    • Performs related duties as required.

    Salary Range

    Actual salary commensurate with experience or range if discussed and approved by hiring authority.
