Mental Health Clinical Nursing Instructor (Part-Time)

As a Part-Time Visiting Professor, you will inspire motivated nursing students to achieve their educational and career goals. Schedule

Scheduling is determined based on course needs and clinical specialty for each 8-week session. Clinical instructors are typically scheduled for 2-3 consecutive 12-hour shifts over 1-2 weeks per session. Additional dates may not always be available, and clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.

For Mental Health Psych Nursing: Students will demonstrate nursing skills and procedures in an inpatient healthcare center, focusing on anxiety, self-concept, thought disorders, mood alterations, addictive behaviors, organic brain dysfunction, abuse, and violence issues.

Responsibilities

• Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.
• Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
• Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
• Make yourself available to staff at clinical agencies.
• Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students based on course objectives.
• Be available for student remediation as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with assistance from agency personnel.
• Develop and post written clinical assignments tailored to students’ knowledge base, skill competency, and learning needs.
• Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, and clinical paperwork in a timely manner.
• Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College.
• May teach didactic course content under the supervision of a course coordinator.
• Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
• Collaborate with college administration, staff, and faculty to improve operations and student satisfaction.
• Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and policy implementation.
• Serve as a professional role model in areas such as customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and professionalism.
• Utilize relationship skills in group problem-solving, consensus-building, and negotiation.
• Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
• Report to the dean or assistant dean, with additional oversight from a course coordinator.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing (Required).
• 2+ years of experience within the last five years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse (Required).
• Professional Nurse licensure in the state of practice (Required).
• Excellent communication skills with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment.

Pay

The expected compensation rate for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on education, experience, course type, geographic location, licensure, market factors, and departmental budgets. Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law.
