About the role
The Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) and the Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) are seeking mental health Assistants in Nursing (AIN) to join their Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Service.
Responsibilities
The mental health AIN within MHDA Services supports person-centered consumer health outcomes with a focus on recovery. The AIN assists the nursing team in providing nursing care to mental health consumers within an acute care setting, through directed identified tasks and patient care activities under the direction of Registered Nurses (RNs).
The AIN role supports the RN in collecting health care information, documenting, and communicating the information back to the RN within an identified Mental Health AIN Care Activities Map outlining the scope of practice.
The MHDA Service aims to provide recovery-oriented, trauma-informed services guided by evidence-based practice and collaboration, recognizing each person's unique journey of recovery in a way that fosters hope, purpose, and resilience.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Nursing or degree deemed appropriate or completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care).
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills along with experience working within mental health.
- Contemporary mental health, nursing clinical knowledge and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to the scope of AIN.

Pay
$31.90 - $35.00 per hour
Schedule
Up to 38 hours per week

We have several specialised AIN mental health nursing positions across the following sites: Macquarie Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, and Northern Beaches Hospital, including specialist older persons and young person’s units.
