Mental Health Aide

Part-time position available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, shaving, oral care, ear and nail care, and toileting residents according to their plan or service.
  • Complete daily programs and documentation.
  • Act as an advocate for the rights of the person served.
  • Follow all treatment plans outlined in the Person’s Served Plan of Service.
  • Report any abuse or neglect immediately.
  • Assist with medical appointments and document accordingly.
  • Assist with shopping for home and maintain accuracy with petty cash.
  • Assist the person served with outings and document as needed.
  • Sign all logs and service charts daily.
  • Communicate with support service personnel and parents/guardians.
  • Use gentle teaching methods and stay calm and professional at all times.

Requirements

  • Able to pass competency test.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Over 18 years of age.
  • Good physical health and able to pass a physical and T.B. skin test.
  • Three references required.
  • Capable of meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each resident.
  • Competent in reporting requirements, first aid, CPR, personal care, supervision, protection, resident rights, safety and fire prevention, prevention and containment of communicable diseases.

Qualifications

  • Pass a competency test.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Over 18 years of age.
  • Good physical health and able to pass a physical and T.B. skin test.
  • Three references.
  • Capable of meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each resident.
  • Competent in the following areas before performing assigned tasks: Reporting Requirements, First Aid, CPR, Personal Care, Supervision, Protection, Resident Rights, Safety & Fire Prevention, Prevention & Containment of Communicable Disease.

  • Knowledge of resident rights and safety protocols.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks and report issues promptly.
  • Proficiency in basic medical assistance and shopping support.
  • Outings coordination and documentation skills.
  • Compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Effective communication with support services and families.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
