Men's Club Basketball Coach

Coastal Carolina University is seeking a Men’s Club Basketball Coach for a temporary position within University Recreation.

About the Role

This is a part-time, temporary staff position with varying hours per week. The coach must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university, including weekend travel and overnight trips for competitions.

Responsibilities

• Establish team roster
• Conduct practices
• Manage games productively
• Provide team supervision during travel
• Establish behavioral objectives and student leadership development

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• Two (2) years of coaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Basketball playing experience
• Experience in a leadership role

Skills

• Proficient knowledge of all aspects of the game of basketball
• Capability to instruct club student-athletes and increase their athletic performance
• Knowledge of National Club Basketball Association rules and regulations
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

Working Conditions

• Must commit to attending all scheduled practices and games
• Weekend travel to competitions is routine; overnight trips vary by distance
• Must be accessible to referees, team, and essential personnel during games
• Ability to adapt to workplace stressors such as student or team complaints, safety concerns, and competing priorities

Position is temporary, ending April 30, 2027. Desired start date is August 19, 2026.
