Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- At least one (1) year experience providing care to individuals with a diagnosis of dementia or other cognitive impairment
- Must successfully complete all Atria specified training programs
- Must be fully vaccinated and provide vaccination record card at time of hire
- Able to work various schedules and shifts as needed
Responsibilities
- Perform personal care and other related services as assigned by the Wellness Director, focusing on the wholistic needs of the resident
- Assist with facilitating programming and resident engagement as assigned by the Memory Care Director
- Attend to all care needs of the residents in Memory Care neighborhood
- Set-up tables in preparation for all meals; serve meals and drinks to Memory Care residents in the dining room
- Serve residents 3 snacks and beverages each day, including those in their rooms during snack time
- Assist with clean-up following all meals, including clearing dishes, wiping down tables and chairs, and picking up food from the floor
- Take an active part daily in the implementation of the Sharing the Way Moment by Moment program, including structured and unstructured activities
- Provide residents with choices throughout the day and encourage independence with personal ADLs
- Pick up laundry from resident apartments, rinse out soiled laundry, and dispose of dirty laundry appropriately
- Collect garbage from assigned resident apartments daily and immediately remove soiled incontinent supplies
- Perform housekeeping duties for common areas, including vacuuming, dusting, straightening up, cleaning bathrooms, and replacing supplies
- Responsible for light clean-up of resident apartments as necessary, including making beds, spot-checking rooms, and using extractor on incontinent accidents
- Provide activities of daily living assistance to residents as directed by each Resident’s Service Plan
- Engage and motivate residents, encouraging program participation
- Greet new residents and introduce them to others in the community with similar interests
- Provide verbal encouragement and support to residents
- Prioritize tasks to ensure optimum service to residents as needs change
- Communicate resident needs to the Memory Care Director and other departments as necessary
- May drive company vehicle for community-related social or other destinations (if required by community)
- Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned
Skills
- Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Able to write simple correspondence
- Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
