Essential Functions
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating memory unit resident activities.
- Encourages resident participation in programs and activities.
- Escorts residents on activities away from the property as assigned.
- Assists with the registration of residents for trips and programs.
- Conducts various activities at the direction of the Memory Care Director.
- Maintains necessary activity supplies, which may include outside purchasing.
- Maintains general observation of residents and shares appropriate information with staff.
- Follows departmental budget guidelines.
- Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
- Adheres to all Company policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.
- Experience in activities preferred.
- Dementia Certification preferred.
- Ability to assume a leadership role in the activities department in the absence of the Memory Director.
- Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical, or sensory disabilities.
- Moderate physical activity: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Repetitive standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Repetitive bending and/or stooping for more than one (1) hour at a time.
- Sitting for more than two (2) hours at a time.
- May require consistent computer work with repetitive typing and concentrating on computer screen.
- Physical ability to travel to sites.
