Membership Sales Representative

Business Development$80k/yrFull-time

About the Role

As an NFIB Membership Sales Representative, you’ll be the human connection that invites small business owners into a national movement advocating on their behalf. Every conversation you have helps give small businesses a stronger voice at the state and federal level. This is face-to-face, community-based work where you’ll meet owners where they are, share NFIB’s impact, and invite them to become part of something that protects their livelihood.

Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with small business owners through in-person prospecting (no appointment setting)
  • Deliver NFIB’s proven, 5-minute sales presentation with confidence, authenticity, and urgency
  • Build fast rapport and communicate NFIB’s mission clearly and compellingly
  • Address objections and close membership enrollments in one visit
  • Process membership payments on the spot

This is a hunter/closer role with a clear, structured sales model and no account management after the sale—allowing you to stay focused on impact and results.

Requirements

  • Mission-driven and passionate about small business success
  • Self-starters with grit, resilience, and a strong work ethic
  • Coachable and willing to follow a proven sales process
  • Quick thinkers who adapt well in live conversations
  • Motivated by growth, learning, and performance-based rewards

Sales experience is helpful—but not required. Many of our top performers came from other fields and brought transferable skills, hustle, and heart.

Benefits

  • W-2 position with full benefits (medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), and more) — eligible after 30 days
  • Up to 13 weeks of performance-based training pay ($1,000/week or commission, whichever is greater)
  • Weekly commission payouts plus monthly and quarterly bonuses
  • Uncapped earning potential (straight commission)
  • Monthly mileage reimbursement

Pay

  • Average annual compensation: $80,000-$200,000
  • 40% of the sales force earns six figures; top 10% exceed $200K
