Responsibilities

• Provide new and existing customers with excellent customer service and deliver accurate, current information about YMCA programs, sports, and events.
• Become knowledgeable about and remain up-to-date on all YMCA programs, fees, schedules, facility amenities, and the Y’s unique role in the community.
• Serve as a friendly, positive, and enthusiastic advocate for the Y, building relationships with members and program participants.
• Greet members and guests in a friendly, pleasant manner; provide correct information regarding programs and fees or refer them to the proper person.
• Register participants for YMCA classes and programs.
• Check in members and answer phones, taking messages and ensuring they reach the right person.
• Perform some filing and miscellaneous clerical work, as well as light cleaning responsibilities.
• Monitor YMCA facilities and handle all questions and concerns in a courteous, professional manner.
• Take out garbage and recyclables, sweep/shovel sidewalks, and pick up debris as needed.
• Secure the building before leaving, including checking rooms, saunas, and locking doors.
• Ensure smooth shift management and guest services delivery.
• Manage event planning and execution within the YMCA environment, coordinating logistics to deliver memorable experiences for members.
• Oversee guest interactions to ensure exceptional service, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
• Handle cash transactions accurately during shift changes, including cash handling procedures and balancing registers.
• Prepare detailed reports on membership activities, event outcomes, and operational performance to inform management decisions.
• Maintain a lively yet organized environment by ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Requirements

• Ability to work with a diverse group of people, accurately at a fast pace, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA, upholding its values and ethics.
• Must be an articulate spokesperson on behalf of the YMCA.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to follow directions, and find answers.
• 1-2 years of customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledgeable computer skills.
• Completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid & AED within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 21 years old.
• Key characteristics include being a fast learner, quickly adaptable, energetic, approachable, self-motivated, dependable, and friendly.
• Experience in events management, including planning, coordination, and execution of special functions.
• Familiarity with shift management duties such as cash handling, report writing, and managing guest services.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining high energy levels.
• Strong ability to foster a positive work environment.
• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction and problem resolution.

Schedule

4:30 AM – 8:00 AM, Wednesdays and Fridays, with optional extra hours as a substitute for other shifts.
