Member of the Technical Staff, Pretraining
About the role
Output is revolutionizing biological reasoning through its advanced AI model, capable of understanding complex biological systems and developing novel drug treatments. This role involves advancing the core architecture and training of the foundation model, which learns biological reasoning from diverse data.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize architectures and training objectives for the foundation model
- Develop methods for learning across multiple biological data modalities
- Predict and understand biological phenomena using the model's reasoning capabilities
- Own the pretraining process, including experiment design, distributed training, hyperparameter optimization, and iterative improvement
- Create evaluation frameworks to assess the model's biological reasoning capabilities
Requirements
PhD in computer science, machine learning, physics, mathematics, or a related field with 2+ years of postdoctoral or industry research experience, or a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 5+ years of hands-on research and engineering experience in representation learning and model pretraining.
Qualifications
- Strong publication record at top-tier venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
- Experience pretraining large models on diverse, heterogeneous data
- Proficiency in Python and PyTorch
- Experience with distributed multi-GPU training infrastructure
- Ownership of the entire research-to-training pipeline
- Production-quality code with version control and code review practices
- Rigorous experimental design and evaluation of model performance
