About the role

Valthos is an applied biological intelligence company focusing on developing software and biological AI systems to safeguard humanity. Our AI architectures are used in various applications such as self-driving cars, rocket launches, and expert-level reasoning. We are now applying these same technologies to biological design, requiring advanced tools to capture and design against real-time sensitivities in nature's evolving landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Work with AI Engineers and Computational Biologists to design and build high-scale, opinionated APIs that are data/GPU intensive.
  • Prototype and develop interactive workflow UIs for life-science users.
  • Create and iterate on data visualization tools to provide users with model results and contextual understanding.
  • Develop and maintain SDKs for technical users.
  • Build and maintain a secure cloud environment for Valthos data and results.
  • Design and build distributed systems that efficiently process large-scale user data using both CPUs and GPUs.
  • Maintain the backend infrastructure for scaling out storage and compute.
  • Design and build Valthos storage and search systems.
  • Develop and maintain systems and services that support the productivity of our development teams, including internal dev environments, automated deployments, and production infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Experience implementing or working on distributed systems and their associated technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, etc).
  • Working knowledge of the full application stack (Web UX frameworks, API design and development, data modeling, RDBs, etc).
  • Preference for working in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.
  • Experience working with AWS or other IaaS providers (preferred).
  • Experience with large scale data and its associated technologies (parquet, pandas, etc) (preferred).
  • Experience building data pipelines and asynchronous data processing (preferred).
  • Experience working with biological data (sequences) and bioinformatics tools (preferred).
  • Contributions to open-source projects (preferred).
