About the role
Liquid AI builds general-purpose AI systems that run efficiently across various deployment targets, including data center accelerators and on-device hardware. We partner with enterprises in consumer electronics, automotive, life sciences, and financial services. This role is central to our automotive engagement, focusing on translating partner product team feature requests into production-ready model checkpoints.
Responsibilities
- Translate broad, ambiguous feature specs from partner product teams into concrete model training requirements.
- Own the core fine-tuning recipe for an on-device audio-to-function-calling model, ensuring accuracy and reliability across all supported languages.
- Generate, clean, and analyze training data; build and maintain large-scale data pipelines that feed training.
- Run training and evaluation cycles against partner requirements on a continuous loop through major software releases.
- Make fast-moving work presentable: develop dashboards, analyses, documentation, and polished partner-facing deliverables.
- Progressively take ownership of the entire model development pipeline, from spec intake through delivered checkpoint.
Requirements
- Hands-on machine learning experience: roughly 2+ years, with strong internships considered.
- Experience working with large-scale data pipelines and handling large volumes of data.
- Experience in an automotive, embedded-device, or on-device ML context.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in client-facing roles.
- Audio or speech model experience, function calling/fine-tuning experience, multilingual model/data experience, background in automotive/research labs.
Qualifications
- Comfortable with shifting requirements and able to adapt to changing specifications.
- Client-ready communicator: able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-experts.
- High energy and urgency: capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Low ego: willing to do the unglamorous tasks that keep projects running smoothly.
Benefits
- End-to-end ownership: within six months, you will be running a production model pipeline for a global automotive partner, with direct mentorship from the engineer who built it.
- Compensation: Competitive base salary with equity in a unicorn-stage company.
- Health benefits: We cover 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees and dependents.
- Financial benefits: 401(k) matching up to 4% of base pay.
- Time off: Unlimited PTO plus company-wide Refill Days throughout the year.
