Job Summary

The Medina Office Clinical Intern position is reserved for graduate students who have reached the internship portion of their Master’s programs and have secured a formal trainee license, allowing them to perform clinical duties under the supervision of an authorized, licensed field supervisor. The Medina Office Clinical Intern will have the opportunity for internship experiences and hours within the Child & Adolescent Group Services program, TEAM Alliance School-Centered program, and Intensive Home-Based Therapy (IHBT).

Essential Duties

  • Provide individual and/or group counseling;
  • Offer school and family education;
  • Implement Therapeutic Behavioral Services (Individual skill trainings);
  • Advocate for clients;
  • Provide information and referral;
  • Coordinate transportation;
  • Offer alcohol and drug education and prevention;
  • Facilitate group work;
  • Respond to crisis intervention, problem resolution, and process discussions;
  • Complete required trainings and maintain necessary client records;
  • Avoid premature termination/evaluation of cases;
  • Adhere to Agency/ACS/NASW codes of conduct and ethics;
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training;
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information;
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record;
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community agencies;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum current Master’s student in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy required.
  • Licensure: Valid Ohio Trainee license (Social Work Trainee, Counselor Trainee, Marriage and Family Therapy Trainee), or higher, required.
  • Skills/Competencies:
    • Core Expertise: Strong clinical skills including training and/or classroom experience expertise in therapy, crisis intervention, education, behavioral interventions, and substance abuse therapy.
    • Independent Judgment: Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
    • Cultural Competency: Awareness, sensitivity, and skills in working professionally with diverse individuals, groups, and communities.
    • Interpersonal Communication: Clear communication using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context.
    • Professional & Ethical Conduct: Adherence to professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability; application of ethical concepts within scope of work.
    • Collaboration and Teamwork: Effective functioning as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients, and family members.
    • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Recognition of problems and appropriate response; gathering and sorting information to identify and address root cause issues; making timely decisions.
    • Technical Proficiency: Competence in utilizing Agency computer systems and software as required to perform intern duties.
    • Experience: Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.

Qualifications
