About the Department

The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine. With 14 sections, 10 centers, and six vice-chair groups, it is one of the largest education programs in the US with more than 700 trainees and highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. The department's healthcare providers see hundreds of thousands of patients in seven inpatient and outpatient facilities, with clinical excellence recognized in U.S. News and World Report. Departmental research initiatives span the continuum of biomedical research from basic to clinical, attracting $128 million in total extramural funding, including more than $72 million from the NIH and other federal sources.

Practice Setting

The Infectious Diseases Baylor Medicine practice sees patients with a wide variety of infectious diseases including general infectious diseases, complex surgical infections, cardiovascular infections, tropical medicine, and HIV infection at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and the McNair Clinic.

Job Duties

  • 24 weeks of inpatient rounding at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center on the Infectious Diseases consult service.
  • 4 half-day clinics per week in General ID clinic at McNair Clinic, when not rounding.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BC/BE Infectious Diseases.
  • Eligible for a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
  • Current or in progress DEA certificate.
  • Authorized to work in the US without need for visa sponsorship.
