Addington Place of Shoal is seeking a full-time Medication Technician for night positions. The schedule is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with a 2-week rotating shift.

Responsibilities

Caregiver Duties

  • Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; knows their locations and physically checks on them throughout the shift.
  • Observes, reports, and documents symptoms and conditions of residents, including changes in skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary habits, and activity participation.
  • Responds promptly to security systems and resident call bells.
  • Notifies supervisor or Health Care Coordinator if a resident has increased care needs.
  • Assists with continence management and disposes of continence products properly to ensure sanitation.
  • Serves and collects food trays; reports meal refusals or loss of appetite.
  • Maintains cleanliness of residents’ rooms and work areas.
  • Practices standard care precautions for cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
  • Helps residents maintain independence, dignity, and physical safety.
  • Actively participates in and assists residents with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating).
  • Engages residents in life skills and enrichment activities.
  • Greets and assists internal and external customers, including guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
  • Performs resident laundry as assigned.

Medication Technician Duties

  • Reviews service plans to learn pertinent resident information.
  • Assists and observes medications and treatments using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
  • Documents and initials medication administration, including refusals or missed doses.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all resident information, including medications.
  • Reports resident concerns to the Nurse or Health Care Coordinator (HCC).
  • Restocks medication cart after all medication passes.
  • Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
  • Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, and treatment carts for neatness and availability of medications.
  • Follows the re-fill process for medications.
  • Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
  • Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates).
  • Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Active certifications required (e.g., Certified Nurse’s Aid certification preferred).
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
