About the role

Beztak Senior Living is seeking a Medication Technician to join our team. As a Medication Technician, you will primarily be responsible for the administration or assisting in the administration of medication and treatments in accordance with a resident’s health care provider’s orders. You will also assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), provide general supervision, and respect residents’ rights and needs of choice.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medication assistance for residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy, including pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation.
  • Accepts responsibility for accurate medication counts and for security of the medication cart and medication storage room for assigned shifts.
  • Assists in maintaining the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner.
  • May assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility, as needed.
  • Responds promptly to all residents' needs and/or requests for care, providing or obtaining assistance as necessary.
  • Upholds residents’ rights at all times.
  • Supports and upholds all company policies and care philosophy.
  • Observes residents for changes in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, medication side effects, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurse.
  • Completes all documentation such as medication administration records, incident reports, change of condition reports, and behavior tracking, as requested, in a timely manner.
  • Resolves concerns regarding resident care with all constituents in a timely manner.
  • Ensures proper and timely records reporting in your department in accordance with state and federal guidelines and company standards.
  • Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA, and state and federal regulatory training as required.
  • Attends all required staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned.
  • Operates a company vehicle or personal vehicle (as required) to perform job duties. Must be willing and able to drive for work-related purposes as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-year previous experience as a Caregiver for the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members.
  • Must be able to perform the job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must complete the Medication Aide training (and certification in states where required).

Background Check Process

Beztak and All Seasons complete pre-employment testing in accordance with company policies and all state requirements. This includes criminal background checks, fingerprinting (where applicable), and drug testing.

  • Florida applicants: Level 2 ACHA requirements.
  • Arizona applicants: Obtain a fingerprint clearance card, TB test, and clear the Adult Protective Services registry.
  • Michigan applicants: Take a TB test and complete fingerprinting.

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

This position typically operates indoors with possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious material.
