Overview
Elderwood is in growth mode and currently seeking a Part Time Medication Technician to join their team. The position operates from 2:00pm-10:00pm, including weekends, with a rotation schedule.
Responsibilities
- Directs/assists with safe, proper administration of medication to assigned residents.
- Administers medications and treatments to assigned residents as ordered by physician and utilizing the five (5) rights as applicable.
- Ensures proper storage and distribution of controlled substance medications, and maintains accurate documentation.
- Responds immediately to resident's requests and reports unusual symptoms, changes in condition, and progress to the Director of Nursing or licensed professional.
- Transfers residents out when indicated for evaluation and participates in Change-of-Shift Report.
- Documents duties accurately and promptly according to service excellence standards.
- Assists residents with ADLs, medical supplies/equipment, positioning, grooming, toileting, transferring, and personal emergency response routine.
- Maintains facility standards by respecting residents' rights, treating them with respect, reporting issues, and completing in-service programs.
- Supports service in the dining room and adheres to facility policies and procedures.
- Applies and utilizes PPE as required and displays genuine concern for the elderly population.
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Proof of successful completion of a medication technician training program within the last 12 months preferred.
- Certification by an approved basic training program in home health aide services and written evidence of such certification is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Long-term care experience preferred.
- If working in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), a CNA or LNA is required.
- Strong verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and exceptional customer service skills.
- Able to assist with and operate a wheelchair.
- Displays empathy and willingness to work as a team.
