Medication History Technician (Per diem)
About the role
Responsible for gathering accurate medication histories information from patients arriving at the Emergency Department, this information is done by interviewing patient/family/significant other upon arrival to be admitted to the inpatient units. Completes various related administrative tasks which alleviate pharmacist time. Maintains confidentiality of reports, enters and retrieves data utilizing the computer system, and speaks confidently with patients/family, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Gather accurate medication histories from patients
- Interview patient/family/significant other upon arrival to be admitted to the inpatient units
- Complete administrative tasks to alleviate pharmacist time
- Maintain confidentiality of reports
- Enter and retrieve data using the computer system
- Communicate effectively with patients/family, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- One (1) year of experience as a pharmacy tech in a retail setting, or six months of experience conducting medication histories/similar experiences
- Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection required by March 31st of each year
Qualifications
- Appropriate level of understanding and training in medical terminology and medication-related terms

This is a per diem position, looking mainly for day availability with the ability to start at 6 am. Occasional swing, evening, and weekend coverage.
