About the Role

The Medication Assistant (MA) provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision, ensuring age-appropriate support for physical and psychological needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting residents with activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and transferring using proper techniques.
  • Taking and recording vital signs, administering prescribed medications within scope, and documenting care outcomes.
  • Supporting psycho-social needs and encouraging participation in wellness and recreational activities.
  • Assisting with food preparation, dining, housekeeping, and laundry to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Communicating resident condition changes, medication responses, and concerns to nursing staff.
  • Participating in departmental committees and tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; minimum age 18.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience preferred.
  • Complete annual competency testing and continuing education (minimum 12 hours/year).
  • Certifications vary by state; CNA and medication aide certifications required or preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance may be needed.
