Medication Aide / Tech - Washington, UT

Responsibilities

• Verify ID of resident prior to medication administration
• Administer medications per physician order and document it was given
• Report to Team Leader any errors, refusal or reactions to medications immediately
• Complete medication error incident report when there is an error in the administration of medications
• Ensure medications are properly labeled and stored according to medication instructions
• Ensure medications are reordered when necessary and destroyed as indicated
• Complete proper medication destruction
• Narcotics should be destroyed with Med Tech and LPN/RN witnessed and cosigned
• Non narcotics should be destroyed by Med Tech or LPN
• Report any complaints or grievances made by residents to the Team Leader
• Attend and participate in care plan meetings as necessary
• Accurately and sagely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this Community and that may be ordered for resident use by the physician or the Medical Director
• Perform as Caregiver/CNA when not passing medications
• Ensure that an adequate supply of floor medications is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents
• Reorder as needed
• Report needs for supplies and/or equipment to Resident Care Coordinator

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR certification
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
