Responsibilities
- Verify ID of resident prior to medication administration
- Administer medications per physician order and document it was given
- Report to Team Leader any errors, refusal or reactions to medications immediately
- Complete medication error incident report when there is an error in the administration of medications
- Ensure medications are properly labeled and stored according to medication instructions
- Ensure medications are reordered when necessary and destroyed as indicated
- Complete proper medication destruction
- Narcotics should be destroyed with Med Tech and LPN/RN witnessed and cosigned
- Non narcotics should be destroyed by Med Tech or LPN
- Report any complaints or grievances made by residents to the Team Leader
- Attend and participate in care plan meetings as necessary
- Accurately and sagely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this Community and that may be ordered for resident use by the physician or the Medical Director
- Perform as Caregiver/CNA when not passing medications
- Ensure that an adequate supply of floor medications is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents
- Reorder as needed
- Report needs for supplies and/or equipment to Resident Care Coordinator
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR certification
- Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
