About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to support the licensed staff by providing direct resident care and performing Medication Aide and Nurse Aide functions. This includes, but is not limited to, administration of medication as directed, as well as care for the personal needs and comfort of residents under the supervision of a Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Administer medication as directed
- Provide direct resident care and support personal needs and comfort
- Perform duties in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations
- Adhere to Independence House policy and procedure, ethical statement, and resident rights
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Current certification on the State of Ohio Nurse Aide Registry
- Medication Aide certificate
- Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Positive, service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the needs of the residents served
- Basic knowledge of principles related to aging adults and associated problems
- Ability to assess data reflective of resident status and interpret information to identify resident needs
Physical Demands
- Full range of body motion with intermittent activities in walking, sitting, lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and standing
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, including lifting above the shoulder
- Classified at risk for possible occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens (e.g., HBV, HIV)
