About the role
The Medication Aide is part of the Morning Pointe Clinical Team, supporting the mission of partnering with families in meeting the challenges of life. This role involves administering medications as prescribed by the resident's physician and ensuring quality services.
Responsibilities
- Administers prescribed medications to residents under supervision of a licensed nurse or DON
- Verifies identity of resident and records details of medication administration
- Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or application
- Documents reasons why prescribed drugs are not administered
- Communicates with families, residents, and the interdisciplinary team as needed
- Completes shift reports and documentation in records per company policy
Qualifications/Skills Needed
- High School Diploma or GED
- Licensed C.N.A.
- Completed medication aide course with certification from the State of Tennessee
- Experience in senior resident services, health care, or customer service preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with older adults and knowledge of the aging process
- A flexible work schedule
Physical Demands
- Heavy physical demands including lifting/moving objects up to 100 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds constantly
- Constant standing and walking
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, turning, and stretching
- Finger and hand dexterity required
- Visual and hearing acuity essential
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions necessary
- Basic mathematical computations required
