About the role
Technologist Trainee responsible for performing laboratory testing and ensuring specimen quality.
Responsibilities
- Determine specimen acceptability based on established criteria.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Make technical decisions related to testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
- Perform preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and replenish testing supplies as needed.
- Assist in specimen processing when required.
- Maintain a safe work environment with proper PPE.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
- Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to pass a color blindness test.
- Flexibility to work overtime or different shifts based on needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or prior laboratory experience.
- ASCP or AMT certification.
