Responsibilities
- Assists and leads in the development of new methods and procedures, as needed.
- Performs the duties of a Medical Technologist II.
- Trains technologists on new laboratory methods/instruments and ensures compliance with accepted practices with a high level of expertise.
- Maintains compliance of area-specific documentation for essential technical, IT, quality, educational, and/or safety information, including policies, procedures, performance trends, and compliance logs.
- Maintains and troubleshoots instrument performance.
- Provides input into the performance evaluations/competency checks of technologists, technicians, and other personnel, including students and residents.
Requirements
- Minimum Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field and 4 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist post-licensure required or Master's degree in related field and 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist post-licensure required or PhD in related field and 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist post-licensure required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licenses and Certifications: Medical Technologist NYS upon hire required or Histotechnologist (HTL) NYS, restricted to Histology Lab upon hire required.
Qualifications
Must be proficient in all aspects of test principles and methodologies and be able to make judgments about applications for specific cases.
Skills
Proficiency in test principles and methodologies, ability to develop and maintain standard operating procedures, and strong communication skills.
