Responsibilities
- Receive, analyze, and report laboratory specimens promptly following policies and procedures.
- Use technical and professional judgment in duties.
- Support and evaluate quality control, assurance, maintenance, and safety programs.
- Maintain supplies and reagents in assigned areas.
- May develop and write procedures for new methods.
- Participate in training, continuing education, supervision, and organizational activities.
- Perform additional duties with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Complete at least 12 months of structured training with clinical internship in a hospital setting.
- Hold a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related field, or an Associate’s Degree plus 10 years of experience.
- Must be certified by a national registry (e.g., CLS(MLS), MT(ASCP)) within six months of hire.
- Certified technicians as of 2004 must participate in a triennial certification maintenance program.
- Demonstrate commitment to compliance and adherence to policies and codes of conduct.
