About the Role
This is a PRN (as-needed) role, primarily dayshift. The Medical Technologist is responsible for accurately performing a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests and reporting results within the expected turnaround time to assist healthcare providers in delivering optimal patient outcomes. The role includes performing required equipment maintenance, calibration, and quality control testing per departmental procedures. Availability to sign up for on-call shifts and provide coverage for other shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required. Additional tasks include specimen transport, specimen processing for in-house and send-out testing, answering telephone calls, and reviewing pending logs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Lab Science, Biological Sciences, or a related field from an accredited college or university or an Associate’s Degree in Medical Lab Technology with HEW certification.
- Certification required (ASCP or AMT) or eligible to take the exam. Must successfully complete certification (ASCP or AMT) within 18 months of hire.
