Responsibilities

  • Collects blood samples (Venipuncture).
  • Handles blood and urine samples and performs sample processing.
  • Runs calibrations, quality control samples, proficiency testing samples, and patient samples on laboratory analyzers.
  • Reviews and interprets lab results and enters them into the electronic medical record system.
  • Performs scheduled analyzer maintenance.
  • Trains to perform vision testing, ECG, and taking vitals (blood pressure, pulse, O2 sat, temperature).
  • Schedules to take a NIOSH-approved Spirometry training course to become proficient in performing spirometry (pulmonary function) testing.
  • Schedules to take a CAOHC-approved Audiometry course to become certified in performing audiograms (hearing tests).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • AS or higher and 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Medical Technologist (Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist).
  • A U.S. citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
