About the Role

To perform accurate, precise testing to assist in patient care in a timely manner. To assist in all functions of laboratory services.

Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory tests using established procedures in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Good blood collection techniques for venipuncture, capillary collection, and pediatric collection.
  • Reviewing results and logs for technical or clerical oversights/errors.
  • Generating complete and accurate reports.
  • Verifying, reporting, and documenting alarm values in a timely manner.
  • Participates in QA/QI studies as necessary.
  • Helps maintain inventory of technical supplies.
  • Performs and review Quality Control Values.
  • Performs and documents daily and periodic maintenance.
  • Performs calibrations when necessary.
  • Troubleshoots and document instrument problems.
  • Use “Hot lines” and call in service when necessary.
  • Willingness to help others with their assigned duties when needed.
  • Flexibility to changes, duties, call, shifts when emergency situations arise.
  • Maintains good working relations with areas of service physicians, outside facilities, and the general public.
  • Maintains a satisfactory attendance record.
  • Works well independently.
  • Satisfactory availability and response when on call.
  • Complies with department and hospital policy and procedure in accordance with State and Federal regulation.
  • Complies with OSHA standards and universal precautions.
  • Assists in training and guiding new staff technologists.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Biology required or Bachelor's Degree Clinical Laboratory Sciences required or Bachelor's Degree Laboratory Sciences required.
  • Licenses And Credentials: ASCP Certified Medical Technologist [MLT, MT, MLA, Histologists] - Generic - HR Only preferred.
  • Experience: At least two years experience in a clinical Laboratory 2-3 years required.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak clearly and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must possess the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel and the general public.

Additional Job Details

This position is full time, 40 hours/week on nights. Remote Type Onsite Work Location One Hospital Road Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Employee Type Regular Work Shift Night (United States of America)

Pay Range

$35.98 - $74.20/Hourly Grade SM1218
