Medical Technologist - Lab Technologist

Location: Clinton Township, MI | Contract: 13 weeks

About the role

Under general supervision, the Medical Technologist performs routine and complex analytical procedures on blood, body fluids, and other clinical specimens. The role involves the use of manual laboratory techniques, laboratory instruments, and information systems while maintaining accuracy and quality in testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing on blood, body fluids, and other specimens.
• Utilize manual testing techniques and automated laboratory instruments.
• Follow established laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure accurate and timely results.
• Operate laboratory information systems and related technology.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency and apply theoretical laboratory knowledge to daily testing activities.
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and records.
• Follow applicable laboratory safety and quality standards.
• Work effectively under general supervision in a clinical laboratory environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform laboratory functions.
• Blood Bank experience is required.
• BLS certification required.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree program in:

• Medical Technology
• Medical Laboratory Sciences
• Clinical Laboratory Sciences

A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology may be considered if coursework aligns with the duties of the position. Coursework completed outside the U.S. must be verified through a NACES-approved credential evaluation service.

Preferred Certification

Certification at the technologist level from a nationally recognized agency is preferred, such as:

• ASCP
• NCA
• AAB
• AMA
• ABB
• ACSH
• HEW

Schedule

• Shift: 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• 4 days per week
• Every other weekend required
