About the role
The Medical Technologist IV position provides medical technology services in a hospital or other laboratory setting, under the direction of a physician or medical director; to include the establishment of procedures and maintenance of a laboratory unit, and the performance of laboratory tests; and other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provides medical technology services in a hospital or other laboratory setting, under the direction of a physician or medical director;
- Establishes procedures and maintains a laboratory unit;
- Performs laboratory tests in one or more specialized fields of medical technology;
- Aids in the general operation of a large laboratory;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Licenses: Current Clinical Laboratory Technologist license issued by the Department of Health, State of Hawaii;
- Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional medical technologist experience which involved a variety of laboratory procedures and tests on samples of body fluids, tissues and other materials, the purpose for which is to assist others in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. At least one (1) year of experience must have been comparable to the next lower level.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field;
- Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional medical technologist experience which involved a variety of laboratory procedures and tests on samples of body fluids, tissues and other materials, the purpose for which is to assist others in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. At least one (1) year of experience must have been comparable to the next lower level.

- Knowledge of medical laboratory techniques and procedures;
- Ability to interpret and follow complex laboratory protocols;
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and instruments;
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

$5,527 to $6,728 per month (SR-22, Step D to I)
