Medical Technologist I (Non-Exempt)

About the Role

The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist is part of the provider care team, contributing to the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions through technical and scientific expertise. This position ensures accurate, precise, and timely performance of laboratory tests, evaluates and reports results, and maintains compliance with regulatory requirements for a high-quality laboratory.

The role requires excellent customer service skills in all internal and external interactions, aligned with Mercy Signature Service, and adherence to Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests with accuracy, precision, and timeliness.
• Evaluate and report test results while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service in line with Mercy Signature Service.
• Uphold Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards in all duties.

Requirements

• Associate's degree.
• MLT or MLS certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in a major meeting certification agency requirements.
• OR completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 3 years of acceptable clinical laboratory experience.
• MT(ASCP) certification or equivalent.
