Night shift, 20:00 - 06:30 with rotating holiday and weekend coverage required.
Responsibilities
- Report accurate results, evaluate results for clinical significance and validity, and recognize atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow-up.
- Ensure quality control is acceptable and instrumentation is functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits; complete required documentation.
- Consciously work to minimize errors and take responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner.
- Perform all laboratory functions according to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by regulatory agencies, including participation in proficiency testing and familiarization with regulations and quality indicators.
- Troubleshoot equipment and assay performance when results are questionable.
- May teach, train, and/or mentor new employees, students, and other healthcare professionals according to standard operating procedures.
- May procure blood from patients by venipuncture, fingerstick, or heelstick to obtain blood samples for analysis following age-specific guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Combination of additional experience and education may substitute on a 1:1 year basis.
- Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification required within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year or more of experience outside of internship.
- MT, CLS, or MLT license already obtained.
Pay
Hourly range: $30.04 to $45.06, dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
