Medical Technologist, Flow Cytometry

Key Responsibilities

• Perform specialized flow cytometry testing, including lymphocyte subset analysis, stem cell analysis, and leukemia/lymphoma immunophenotyping to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
• Conduct routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality control procedures to ensure accurate, reliable test results and compliance with laboratory standards.
• Participate in the development, validation, and implementation of new laboratory tests and methodologies to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
• Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory professionals, and clinical teams to ensure high-quality patient care and laboratory operations.
• Serve as an educator and mentor for Medical Technology students, Clinical Pathology (CP) residents, and fellows by providing hands-on instruction and guidance in flow cytometry techniques and laboratory best practices.

Qualifications

• NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and 2 years clinical lab experience required.
• Excellent computer skills required.
• Candidates with no clinical lab experience or with a NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician will be considered for appointment to a commensurate title and salary.
• Candidates with a BS degree in Natural Sciences may be considered for a commensurate title and salary; these applicants must apply for a restricted license and complete a 1 year training program in Flow Cytometry.
• Ability to distinguish colors required.
