Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols to perform various tests, including the most complex, for an assigned area.
• Provides guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I’s and Medical Lab Technicians in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results.
• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so appropriate action can be taken.
• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
• Assists in development of new test and quality procedures for the assigned area.
• Ensures test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
• Ensures preventative maintenance for equipment in the assigned area.
• Performs moderately complex troubleshooting, repair, and modification of a wide range of complex equipment and instrumentation.
• May assist in the roll‑out of new equipment and equipment modifications.
• Instructs technicians and technologists in the set‑up and operation of new equipment and procedures.
• Ensures compliance with all laboratory quality and safety policies
