Medical Technologist - 24-hour 3rd Shift Position

Responsibilities

• Performs and evaluates variety of technical procedures in the Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology sections.
• Utilizes accepted quality control techniques with the aid of different methodologies.
• Performs diagnostic procedures in other laboratory sections as needed.
• Uses the LIS computer systems for Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology sections.
• Performs and results automated and manual Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology procedures.
• Performs blood gas testing, coagulation studies, CBCs with differentials, body fluid analysis, peripheral smears, and mycology and urinalysis testing.
• Maintains organizational and communication skills, ensuring timely and accurate result reporting, and open communication with healthcare providers and staff.
• Assists with teaching students and orienting new employees, and assists the supervisor in reviewing policies and procedures.
• Participates in quality control and quality assurance monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science.
• ASCP certified generalist or categorical Technologist or equivalent accreditation or letter of Technologist eligibility from ASCP required.
• Non-certified applicants must successfully acquire certification within 12 months of hire or promotion.

$38.52 - $51.84 per hour
