Description
Chemistry / IA and Hematology experience in a high-volume laboratory is required. Experience with QuidelOrtho Vitros and/or Sysmex equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Assists in specimen collection and processing, including labeling, centrifuging, and preparing samples for testing.
- Prepares lab equipment, reagents, and work areas for procedures; cleans and sterilizes instruments and surfaces in accordance with OSHA and infection control standards.
- Maintains accurate equipment records and daily work logs.
- Enters laboratory data accurately and promptly into the lab information system (LIS) or electronic health records (EHR).
- Maintains a hazard-free work environment by following ergonomic guidelines, reporting unsafe conditions, and participating in emergency preparedness drills.
- Supports quality assurance activities, such as participating in basic quality control checks, proficiency testing, and team training sessions.
- Provides general administrative support, such as filing reports, ordering supplies, and helping with patient instructions for specimen collection.
- Collaborates with staff to respond to routine lab needs, troubleshoot minor issues, and perform other assigned duties while prioritizing patient safety and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Licensure or other certifications: Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Basic computer literacy skills, including familiarity with data entry and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow instructions precisely, and commitment to safety protocols.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills for working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, biology, or chemistry from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience with EMR Allscripts/Veradigm and/or CGM LabDaq (LIS) preferred.
- Previous experience with QuidelOrtho Vitros 5600 and/or Sysmex XN-2000 preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory, healthcare, or related setting preferred.
- Knowledge of basic lab procedures, such as specimen processing and aseptic techniques, aligned with best practices from organizations like the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).
- Ability to multitask and adapt to varying workloads.
