Primary Responsibilities
- Provide immediate first-aid and emergency medical care to employees who experience illness or injury during work hours.
- Conduct thorough assessments of injured or ill employees to determine the severity of conditions and evaluate the need for emergency medical services or additional medical attention.
- Document all medical interventions and maintain detailed injury logs in compliance with OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
- Perform systematic on-site follow-up evaluations with employees who have sustained work-related injuries, monitoring recovery progress and coordinating return-to-work protocols.
- Communicate with supervisors and management regarding employee medical status and work restrictions as appropriate.
- Administer workplace drug and alcohol testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain strict adherence to chain-of-custody protocols to ensure specimen integrity and legal defensibility.
- Execute all drug testing procedures in compliance with Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) guidelines and federal regulations.
- Properly document all testing procedures, results, and related correspondence while maintaining confidentiality.
- Collaborate with Medical Review Officers (MROs) and testing laboratories as required.
Health & Safety Training
- Design, schedule, and deliver comprehensive training programs on bloodborne pathogen exposure control in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Provide hands-on First Aid, CPR, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification training to employees.
- Maintain current instructor certifications and stay updated on the latest emergency response protocols.
- Develop and update training materials to reflect current best practices and regulatory requirements.
Hearing Conservation Program Management
- Coordinate and administer the facility's hearing conservation program in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Schedule and conduct baseline and annual audiometric testing for employees in high-noise environments.
- Analyze audiogram results and identify standard threshold shifts requiring follow-up.
- Maintain accurate records of noise exposure monitoring and employee participation.
- Oversee proper fitting, distribution, and training for hearing protection equipment.
- Collaborate with industrial hygienists and safety personnel on noise abatement strategies.
Medical Services & Equipment Management
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of first-aid supplies, medical equipment, and emergency response materials.
- Conduct regular inspections of all first-aid kits, AEDs, and medical stations throughout the facility.
- Ensure proper storage, rotation, and disposal of medications and medical supplies.
- Calibrate and maintain medical equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment servicing, repairs, and replacement.
- Manage budget for medical supplies and equipment purchases.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Maintain comprehensive and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Generate reports on workplace injuries, illness trends, and occupational health metrics.
- Prepare and submit required regulatory reports to OSHA and other governing agencies.
- Document all health and safety activities, training sessions, and program outcomes.
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Medical Emergency services or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Required: 3 years in emergency medicine.
- Preferred: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification.
