As part of BJC HealthCare, Parkland Health Center offers a unique combination of world-class medicine along with deep local roots and rich history. Parkland Health Center has two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri – a full-service acute care hospital in Farmington and a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre. The Farmington campus provides a full continuum of inpatient and medical-surgical and intensive care, obstetrics, emergency services, and a wide variety of outpatient services including oncology, infusion, wound care, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. The Bonne Terre location is a Rural Emergency Hospital offering emergency services and outpatient services such as medical observation, lab, radiology, and sleep studies.
The Post Operative Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care to patients undergoing specialty surgical procedures, focusing on pre-op needs, post-op care, and treatment through discharge.
This is a safety-sensitive, full-time night position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
- Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, following established nursing care guidelines and standards.
- Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
- Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
Requirements
- Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing (required).
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- No prior experience required.
- Current RN license (required).
