About the role
Trilab Health is seeking a reliable and professional Specimen Collector to join our team in Peoria, IL. The role involves collecting urine and/or oral fluid specimens from male patients, ensuring proper labeling and storage, and working collaboratively with healthcare providers and laboratory staff to facilitate efficient specimen processing.
Responsibilities
- Collect urine and/or oral fluid specimens from patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ensure specimens are correctly labeled and stored according to industry standards.
- Resolve billing or patient information issues in the ordering portal.
- Work closely with healthcare providers and lab staff for efficient specimen processing.
- Manage inventory of collection supplies onsite.
- Observe and adhere to sample collection protocols.
- Coordinate the transport of collected specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Document all specimen collection and handling activities accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including sterilizing equipment and disposing of hazardous materials.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in specimen collection, phlebotomy, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be male due to the requirements of the role.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening prior to employment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for specimen collection.
- Visual acuity for reading labels and forms.
Schedule
- Monday: 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 3 pm to 6:30 pm (Split Shifts)
- Tuesday: 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 3 pm to 6:30 pm (Split Shifts)
- Wednesday: 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 3 pm to 6:30 pm (Split Shifts)
- Thursday: 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 3 pm to 6:30 pm (Split Shifts)
- Friday: 7:30 am to 11:00 am
Pay
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
