About the Role
The Medical Secretary performs various functions in the lab, including data entry, telephone communication, mail distribution, and assisting pathologists with secretarial tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform data entry, answer telephones, and direct calls to appropriate personnel; communicate with clients as necessary.
- Prepare and send slides requested by other Pathology departments; file slides and paperwork.
- Handle routine clerical duties such as filing, faxing, receiving and distributing mail, and preparing billing copies.
- Operate office equipment, including voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, or other software applications to prepare reports, letters, case histories, or medical records.
- Perform various clerical or administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
- Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with industry best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
- Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including Privacy and Security policies.
- Collaborate with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
- Other duties as assigned.
