Medical Scribe

About the role

Function as a scribe to ensure complete and accurate capture of medical information as spoken/instructed by the clinician. Assist the clinician in navigating the electronic health record. Accompany clinician into patient exam areas for the purpose of accurately documenting the clinician's encounter with the patient as described by the clinician. Seek real-time clarification of all information entered into the medical record. List diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as mentioned by the clinician. Enter orders, including diagnostic testing and medications which are pended and require clinician approval to activate. Document procedures performed and described by the clinician. Invoke the organizations approved scribe statement for each clinical note. Complete all scribe duties before leaving the patient care area. Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Six months experience as a medical scribe, medical transcriptionist, or other related job in a medical office
• EPIC knowledge/experience
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in disciplines such as human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, nursing, etc.
