Medical Scribe

PRN, non‑exempt position at Unifour Pain Treatment Center and Pain & Spine Specialists in Hickory, NC. Reports to Teresa Lowman and Loren Annas; no supervisory responsibilities.

About the role

A Medical Scribe records physicians’ interactions with patients and assists with clerical duties related to medical documentation. Duties include documenting patient visits in the electronic medical records (EMR) system, completing paperwork, summaries, and referral letters after each visit, operating electronic health records, and anticipating the physician’s needs to ensure clinical efficiency. The role requires strong computer skills, effective multitasking, and the ability to handle many different tasks daily.

Responsibilities

• Take notes during patient visits and document them in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
• Learn the medical process and use a team approach in patient supervision and documentation.
• Work with a supervising physician to complete and submit medical records.
• Communicate with patients and supervise physicians professionally.
• Complete all administrative tasks efficiently.
• Help electronically prescribe medication for patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• EMR experience (Cerner currently in use).
• Advanced computer skills.
