The impact you will make

Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Medical Science Liaison (MSL/Sr MSL) to join our growing MSL team. The Medical Science Liaison will be responsible for key opinion leader (KOL) development in hemolytic anemias, including sickle cell disease, thalassemia, and pyruvate kinase deficiency. The MSL will engage in scientific exchange with KOLs in support of Global Medical Affairs goals and objectives, manage investigator and company-sponsored studies, and support payers and commercial counterparts within appropriate legal/compliance guardrails.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in relevant molecule and disease state areas.
• In collaboration with MSL director, develop and track opinion leader (OL) engagement plans – identify, develop, and maintain long-term collaborative relationships with OLs within assigned region.
• Participate in medical & scientific exchanges with the medical/scientific community including advisory boards.
• Respond to and document unsolicited requests for information on Agios molecules and clinical programs.
• Collaborate with clinical operations and clinical development to support the recruitment of potential clinical trials sites and serve as a local Agios resource to clinical teams at trial sites participating in Agios studies.
• Facilitate company-sponsored and investigator-sponsored trials (ISTs). Provide medical/clinical teams with feedback and insights from interactions with OLs and investigators.
• Represent the company at medical meetings through Medical Affairs’ Scientific Booth coverage and other related activities.
• Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensure vigilant compliance with relevant legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions with physicians and healthcare professionals across all activities.

Requirements

• An advanced clinical degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, or MD – other doctoral degrees may be considered) is strongly preferred.
• Industry experience preferred with a minimum of 1 year of relevant hematology clinical/research/industry experience in rare diseases.
• Ability to travel frequently with overnight stays (e.g., OL meetings, internal Agios meetings, medical meetings and congresses, training); global travel may be required.
• Exhibits the highest level of scientific and clinical acumen with excellent communication and networking skills.
• Team-minded with ability to be innovative and flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Understanding of, and experience with, regulatory framework applicable to interactions with healthcare providers (HCPs), payers, advocacy, and other business partners.
• Previous MSL experience strongly preferred.

Work Location

This is a remote-based field position. Employees in field roles must reside within their designated territory. Regular conversations with manager are encouraged to ensure alignment on in-person presence/expectations. Travel may be required commensurate with the role and/or to attend team meetings and other company events.

Pay

The current base salary range for this position at the Medical Science Liaison level is expected to be between $153,541 and $230,312 annualized. The current base salary range for the Senior Medical Science Liaison level is expected to be between $183,549 and $275,324 annualized. Final salary will be determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, years of relevant experience, job knowledge, skills and proficiency, degree/education, and internal comparators.
