About the role

The Medical Science Liaison/Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) functions as a highly trained, field-based, scientific expert in oncology. The MSL will interact with local, regional, and national Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare practitioners (HCPs), professional societies, and organizations, with a focus on solid tumors, beginning with urologists, radiation, and medical oncologists treating locally advanced prostate cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the primary medical point of contact in a geographic area.
  • Maintain clinical and scientific expertise in oncology, with a specific focus on standards of care related to the treatment of locally advanced prostate cancer and other solid tumors.
  • Engage in well-informed, compliant, robust, and accurate scientific peer exchange around the client’s pipeline.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of clinical protocols, clinical trial outcomes, and related procedures.

  • Engage in medical and scientific exchange with the medical/scientific community, including advisory boards.
  • Manage and develop the assigned territory.
  • Handle all clinical program requests and unsolicited requests for information.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to support sites and investigators participating in company-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Conduct pre-launch KOL profiling efforts to enhance depth of product, disease, and scientific knowledge.
  • Facilitate top account/institution profiling efforts to enhance understanding of patient care pathways, including treatment protocol development and novel therapies.
  • Work collaboratively and compliantly with commercial colleagues to ensure product strategic imperatives are represented cross-functionally in account engagement.
  • Respond to and document unsolicited requests for information on clinical initiatives.
  • Serve as a resource for investigator-sponsored trial (IIST) proposals.
  • Provide internal teams with feedback and insights from interactions with KOLs.
  • Represent the client at medical meetings through Medical Affairs’ Scientific Booth coverage and other related activities.
  • Attend congresses as appropriate and develop meaningful internal reports of the congresses covered.
  • Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensure vigilant compliance with relevant legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions with physicians and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of excellence in managing the assigned territory while contributing to the success of colleagues and the MSL team.
  • Contribute to organizational goals beyond the borders of a geographic territory.
  • Be well-versed in clinical data to communicate the full range of innovative science, clinical, outcome, economic, and value aspects of the client’s products to healthcare practitioners, formulary members, or payers.
  • Provide medical support, clinical input, and/or training for internal teams as requested.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN, or NP/PA) is required.
  • MSL: A minimum of 2 years of previous MSL experience, with at least 1 year in oncology (and/or immunology) and working knowledge of viral immunotherapy and gene therapy.
