About the role
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for supporting the safe and effective use of SERB Pharmaceutical therapies (Oncology/Hematology) by providing evidence-based scientific and medical support to the field-based sales, commercial, and trade teams. The MSL will engage with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to enhance patient outcomes through improved customer engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based scientific and medical support to the field-based sales, commercial, and trade teams.
- Identify and develop professional relationships with healthcare professionals and Key Opinion Leaders based on bi-directional scientific exchange and patient interest.
- Execute the field medical support strategy to improve patient outcomes through enhanced customer engagement, scientific and clinical discussions, and clinical education of HCPs.
- Engage with assigned members from commercial, sales, and trade teams to ensure alignment with their HCP engagement strategy and to ensure the medical support needs are sufficiently covered and gaps identified for further medical support.
- Adhere to and report on assigned performance metrics and KPIs in a timely manner, exploring other ways to demonstrate the value of medical affairs and deliver goals and objectives.
- Provide meaningful support, engagement, and presence at assigned conferences, symposia, and other medical education/support events.
- Build, maintain, and manage effective professional peer-peer relationships with contracted External Experts (EE) or Key Opinion Leaders, engaging in bi-directional scientific/educational exchange.
- Ensure compliance with BTG SOPs, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and Regulatory programs.
- Engage in regular professional self-development through continuing education, quarterly internal journal clubs, and conference attendance.
- Accurately account for personal travel finances and report external spend to the designated accounting system.
Requirements
- Terminal degree in clinically related area preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, NP/PA) or bachelor’s degree considered with significant experience in Oncology/Hematology.
- Demonstrated scientific and medical acumen, preferably with a publication and teaching record.
- Clinical acumen; preferably having clinical patient care experience or healthcare experience working in a complex healthcare delivery system.
- Demonstrated ability to master new therapeutic areas.
- Industry experience in a clinical, medical, or scientific role preferred.
- Outstanding interpersonal consultative and communication skills (verbal and writing).
- Excellent presentation/platform skills.
- Sincere desire for self-motivated continuous scientific, technical, and medical learning.
- Strong teaching acumen with focus on practical learning.
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload, multi-task, and manage a diverse mix of issues, responsibilities, and challenges.
- Willingness and ability to work within and outside of traditional business hours as well as be part of a team and independently.
Qualifications
- Must have a terminal degree in a clinically related area or a bachelor’s degree with significant experience in Oncology/Hematology.
- Preferred Oncology/Hematology experience.
- Must have a publication and teaching record.
- Must have clinical patient care experience or healthcare experience working in a complex healthcare delivery system.
- Must have industry experience in a clinical, medical, or scientific role.
